Shopweb is a dynamic entity, as is the facility it supports.  This is where changes to rules, policies, and procedures will be posted and linked.  Users of the facility are required to stay current on these changes, so we recommend that you check here if it's been a while since your last visit.  It is our hope that the users of Shopweb will return often to see what has changed and to suggest changes that can improve it's usefulness.

Started a fairly major update.  New materials include the Access Control & Monitoring pages, along with the documents required for access to the facility.  All safety related materials, such as the Safety Contract and safety rules have been evaluated and modified as deemed necessary.  ALL USERS OF THE FACILITY ARE REQUIRED TO READ AND SIGN A NEW CONTRACT (called the Safety and Access Agreement) PRIOR TO WORKING IN THE FACILITY.  Even if you have an old contract on file, you must read and sign the new one.  If you wish to use the facility at times other than "Open Shop", you will also be required to complete an access control card application.
We are continuing with installation and implementation of the access control and CCTV monitoring system for the West Wing.  As with most things, this task has turned out to be much more complex and substantial than anticipated (Rule of pi).  The difficulty lies in the sophistication and integration of the systems as well as trying to account for the unforeseen.  We have bench-tested the systems, developed a flexible integration plan, and installed the initial battery of components.  These will be evaluated for improvements and modifications while we continue running the remaining cable and other infrastructure.
Facilities and Operations have been working hard to complete the installation of the remaining electrical power, and have finished installing the main air compressor.  We now have building air and have power to all primary equipment.
I have been told that all of the financial aspects of providing our computer network for the facility have been worked out, and the installation is imminent.  This is very good news, and long anticipated.

If you are signed up for MAE 115 (or know someone who is) and don't have an assigned class section, contact me at once.
We have begun installation and implementation of a state-of-the-art access control and audio / video surveillance system for the West Wing.  Details of the system and it's use will be covered on a separate page linked here and on the main page.  Essentially, anyone desiring to enter the Facility will require either an access control card / badge, or under some circumstances may be escorted.  Provisions are being made to offer several orientation sessions at the beginning of each semester to provide the essential information required to obtain one of these cards.
Continuing to work on electrical power, organization and the many other tasks required to be ready for Fall.
