As of 1 September, 2006, all persons wishing to weld in the College of Engineering facilities are required to be compliant with the ANSI Z49.1 2005 standard. Prior to using such equipment you must successfully complete a welding safety test based on this standard. It shall have 15 multiple choice questions and must be completed with a score of 80% or better. You are encouraged to read and become familiar with the Z49.1 2005 standard prior to taking this examination. There are no limits on the number of times you can request to take this quiz, there is a minimum 14 day waiting period between attempts. When you are ready to take the quiz, email the facility manager at collinss@uah.edu to request a time.You may check out a copy of this standard from the shop, or read the PDF version below. It is a 68 page document, so please don't print it out indiscriminately. At a minimum, follow the printer manufacturer's instructions for printing 2 sided documents.
